Insider 11-18-2010

Here we are, just past the midway point in this so-called Impossible Dream challenge.

I say “so-called” because as of Monday, I have 36 models painted and 15 more to go. It’s nice to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Those of you who have been following along and are adept at “teh maths” will recall my final model count is 46 if I include a Kara Sloan conversion. Somewhere along the way, I thought it would be a good idea to add more Scattergunners since they did so well for me when I took the army out for a spin. So, that puts me at 51 models total.

This is what I have left to paint:
• Defenders x4
• Trencher Chain Gun Crew
• Trencher Cannon Crew x2
• Grenadier
• Master Gunner
• Scattergunner

But I can’t just leave the guys in the dust, can I? Barring the Ferretpocalypse or any other unnatural disasters, I’ll have 100 points of Siege’s Big Guns theme painted and based to Hardcore standard by the end of the week.

I have no plans to put down the paintbrush for the final week of November. I’ll add more models to the painting queue. The only question is what?
I’ve got a full unit of Trenchers that have been unpainted for as long as I’ve owned my Cygnar army, so I can probably throw them into the mix. With the UA and 3 Grenade Porters, that’s an additional 15 models. That should suffice.

Or, there’s a model I’m painting for a project PG_Dr_Norbert is calling Orange Crush that coincides with Food Machine 2010:!

One heavy warbeast model or 15 small-based trooper models… hmmm. Have I mentioned what a pain it is to paint trooper models?

I’m leaning toward the heavy warbeast, but I’ll roll a D6 to decide between the Trenchers and my Orange Crush model.

Until then, here are some close-ups of my finished models!
