This blog is about how to promote your tournaments and other special events.

There are a number of different ways to reach people:
• Word of mouth
• Flyers
• Online announcements
• Social media outlets

Word of Mouth - Talk about your event! Get out there and let people know what is going on. If you are running a tournament, let your local players know at least a month in advance. That way they have plenty of time to get the word out and get their armies ready for the event. Word of mouth also lets people know there are REAL people interested in the event instead of just an advertisement.

Flyers - Post flyers in high-traffic areas! In your game store this will most likely be in the bulletin board area, but you can also post flyers near product sections (if your store owner allows it). Flyers help you reach out to people you can’t talk with face-to-face.

Online Announcements - Go where the people are! Announce your event online where you think people will read about it. Posting your events on the Privateer Press forums is a great place to let people know about your event and create chatter about it. Posting what the event is, where it will be held, and any associated rules are just the basics that give people a clear understanding of the even and ensures they come fully prepared. Posting on your local forum is another great place because even the players who play other games will know about your event.

Social Media Outlets - I Like this! Using online tools like Facebook to help promote your event is the modern way to get the word out. Lots of people post new events and ideas with their gaming stores/clubs/conventions, and it is a great way to keep in contact even if you do not come to the store every week. – Create an Event!
