Insider 2-22-2012

Every year during con season, a project comes along that requires the help of the whole company. It usually has to do with assembling and painting an enormous quantity of miniatures. In 2010, it was the Khadoran and Cryxian armies that were showcased at AdeptiCon. Staff members from all over the company chipped in to paint over 300 points of metal.

It was no different in 2011. For the second year in a row, staff from multiple departments came together to paint 300 points of Cygnaran and Skorne models. These vast Unbound armies graced the Corvis table for Ed Bourelle and Jason Soles’ Unbound showdown and were again displayed at AdeptiCon 2011.

So here we are in 2012 with another huge project. It started during our Gen Con planning meetings. This year we wanted to offer a late-night event like we have not offered before. The event we had in mind required a large quantity of painted minis—every single warcaster and warlock in WARMACHINE and HORDES to be exact. So, I present to you the what-did-we-get-ourselves-into project of 2012.

Pictured here is every warcaster and warlock released to date in various levels of completion. That’s a total of 118 models. Some are fully painted, some are only based, and a lot of them are not even assembled. The project, however, got off to a great start. During February’s First Friday event at Privateer Press HQ, we assembled over 40 miniatures.

We currently stand at 24 completed models, 8 that need to be based, 74 that need to be painted, and 12 that still need assembly. We are looking pretty good for our August deadline, but there is a ton of painting ahead of us. . .
