One of the many cool things about our convention scene is Iron Arena. If you’re not familiar with it, Iron Arena is a format for open gaming that makes it easy to pick up a game and rewards people for playing lots of games and mixing things up in a variety of ways.

We just returned from TempleCon, and I got to spend a lot of my time there in Iron Arena games. One of the things that made it so enjoyable for me was getting to meet and game with so many interesting people from all over the world. Another thing was getting to see so many beautifully painted armies in one place. When I see two painted armies going to war over intricately constructed terrain, my imagination runs wild. My head is filled with images of warcasters focusing arcane power into the brutal weapons of their warjacks or warlocks reaving primal energies from dying warbeasts to unleash devastating spells upon their enemies.

Here are just a couple of the many cool paint schemes I saw in Iron Arena.

Kyle Hagan went for a muted look while still maintaining Cygnaran blue accents in his bloodstone Cygnar army.

Nick Infante wanted to do a pink Retribution of Scyrah army, and the results are striking.

That's all I've got for now. I'd like to give a big thanks to everyone that took the time to say hi or get a game in at TempleCon. See you in the next Iron Arena!
