Insider 11-30-2011

Converting models is my favorite part of WARMACHINE and HORDES, and I have some new creations that I think came out really cool. I’d like to share them with you.

Creating what-If models has always been the most fun I’ve had making conversions; they might not be tourney legal, but it is cool to see what my nerdy mind can think up. In Khador there is a large population of Menite worshipers called the Old Faith, they might not take commands from the Protectorate but have on occasion aided their fellow Menites. So I thought to myself: “What if some Khadorans decided to switch their allegiance from the empire and fight for the glory of Menoth?” This was the start of my Khador Army of the Old Faith.

What started this whole idea is when I noticed that the Flameguard Spear 3 fit right into the arm of an Iron Fang Pikeman. When combined, the result is the Flameguard Pikeman.

To lead this new army of Khadoran Menites, I decided to make a Knights Exemplar warcaster. I’ve always been a fan of the Exemplar shoulder pads, and I knew who would be comfortable with large pauldrons—Vlad! Using his epic pose, I was easily able to make Grand Exemplar Prince Vladimir.

Every once in a while I come up with an idea that I think is too silly and over the top at first, but when I’m done I’m awestruck by its pure awesomeness. The Man-O-War Paladin of the Wall is now one of my favorite models.

I enlisted the help of organized play coordinator Jen Ikuta to put some paint on these models, which will be in her blog any day now. I was always a fan of her darker Protectorate color scheme and thought it would suit this army nicely. She also hasn’t let me forget my failure to complete the Impossible Dream challenge and was more than glad to help since she didn’t believe I would actually finish them.

That’s all for now. See you next month!
